My Therapeutic Approach

My therapeutic approach is rooted in understanding how early attachment experiences shape how we think, feel, and relate to ourselves and others. I combine Internal family Systems (IFS) and Eye Movement Reprocessing and Desensitization (EMDR) within an attachment-focused framework to help clients explore and process trauma, uncover internal patterns, and build a stronger sense of self. By integrating these modalities, therapy is not just about coping with symptoms, but about healing at a deep, foundational level - for children, teens, and adults alike. This insight-oriented approach allows clients to achieve meaningful growth and long-lasting change.

IFS is a model that theorizes that we are made up of our "self" and many parts. In this model, we dive into learning more about the parts that make us who we are and how they impact us in our lives. This approach involves deep exploration with a focus on the inner child.

EMDR involves tapping beneath our cognitive/talking part of the brain in order to target traumatic memories and reprocess these memories to free oneself from distressing responses. This can help with complex trauma, as well as single incident trauma.

Attachment Oriented Therapy

Attachment theory focuses on early childhood attachments and how these have shaped us into who we are and how we interact with the world around us. I believe that exploring childhood experiences can help us to build insight and heal from the ground up.

I view CBT as a problem solving type approach. CBT involves understanding the relationships between our thoughts, feelings, and behaviors. Once this connection is established, we can greater understand how to modify thinking patterns, feelings, and behaviors as well!
